Paid Search Advertising
(Pay-per-click)
What is Pay Per Click advertising?
Pay Per Click advertising is the search engines program of showing your website ad at the top or sides of a search results page listed under the section labeled as “Sponsored Links”.
It is paid advertising but you do NOT pay to have your website ad displayed, you only pay a nominal fee when someone actually clicks on your ad and is taken to your website.
You can see how this works by going to Google and searching practically anything. You’ll see a page that looks like this, with Sponsored Links at the top and side:
Here’s how it works –
Within Google we have set up an ad for our business (the one you see above) and then we “Bid” a monetary amount that we are willing to pay to have someone click on our ad. When someone searches, Google checks our ad and looks at our bid, and if applicable Google then displays the ad in the “Sponsored Links” section. Depending on our bid structure and who else is bidding on the search term Google determines our placement within the Top or Right side sponsored links sections.
Advertising (PPC) goes hand-in-hand with good SEO (search engine optimization). Quality SEO helps your site rank (show up) at the front of the organic (natural) search results. But even with high organic results we have always seen an additional lift in traffic when we utilize Paid Advertising (PPC).
